About the Job

Our client is seeking a skilled Drone Flight Specialist to join their team. This role requires frequent travel nationwide to inspect utility infrastructure using high-resolution cameras and thermal imagery.

Schedule and Work Environment

This position involves a heavy schedule with extended periods of nationwide travel, often for weeks at a time. The successful candidate will be required to work independently with minimal supervision and as part of a team. Adaptability, attention to detail, and a willingness to learn are essential for success in this role.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Perform image data collection using high-resolution cameras and thermal imagery.
  • Conduct pre-flight and post-flight operations, including airspace coordination, equipment assembly, and hazard mitigation.
  • Develop flight plans that ensure comprehensive coverage.
  • Employ thermal imaging capabilities to detect anomalies and potential issues.
  • Employ proper flight techniques, including smooth maneuvers and capturing images from multiple angles.
  • Troubleshoot technical challenges during inspections.
  • Ensure data integrity by checking image quality, sensor accuracy, and proper data storage.
  • Perform quality checks on collected data.
  • Serve as a point of contact for clients regarding project scope, scheduling needs, and deliverables.
  • Interact with members of the public to explain the nature of the work being conducted.

Requirements

The ideal candidate must have a current FAA Part 107 Remote Pilot License. Preference will be given to candidates with an applied knowledge of utility infrastructure, GIS mapping, and proficiency in manual flight maneuvers in narrow right-of-ways.

Benefits

This role offers a competitive salary of $47,000 - $50,000 per year, as well as benefits including 401(k), dental insurance, health insurance, paid time off, vision insurance, and company-provided truck, phone, laptop, drones, and hotel accommodations.
