Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Dietary Cook to join our team at Amberwell Health. As a Dietary Cook, you will be responsible for preparing meals for patients, café, meals on wheels, and catering events. This is a full-time position that requires a high level of attention to detail and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare meals for patients, café, meals on wheels, and catering events in accordance with recipes and therapeutic diets.
  • Stock and stage food items in the work area, ensuring that all ingredients are fresh and of high quality.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment, adhering to all health and safety regulations.
  • Follow recipes and work production tools, scaling recipes to size based on production requirements and serving appropriate portion sizes.
  • Produce visually appealing and palatable meals in accordance with outlined preparation standards, including garnishes, etc.
  • Adhere to therapeutic diets as necessary and in accordance with NCM standards.
  • Assure the proper staging, dating, and rotation of food items.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of the safe use of workplace tools, such as knives, slicer, mixer, oven, and cooking surfaces.
  • Maintain a safe environment by proper storage/movement of heavy objects.
  • Complete production sheets on a daily basis and attempt to accurately adjust (forecast) production quantities based on previously completed production sheets.
  • Keep workstation clean and clear of clutter, practicing proper sanitation while preparing food items.
  • Record and maintain cooler/freezer and food temperature logs with knowledge of corrective action procedures.
  • Complete room service meal orders and café food prep and/or set-up within appropriate time frames.
  • Assist in other positions, such as room service ordering, café serving, and dish room support, as able.
  • Promptly pause non-room service food prep and tasks and jump in and assist with café meal rush/room service when needed.
  • Complete daily, weekly, and monthly task checklists, as well as daily coronavirus sanitizing tasks.
Requirements
  • Previous cooking experience, preferably with short-order cook preparations and therapeutic diets.
  • Ability to speak, read, write, and follow written and oral instructions.
  • Ability to work cooperatively as part of a team.
  • Ability to exercise time and task management.
  • Knowledge of the dish machine, surface sanitation, and proper food storage.
  • Knowledge and recording of proper temperatures.
Working Conditions

This position requires the ability to work in a fast-paced environment, with frequent exposure to heat, steam, and chemicals. The position also requires the ability to lift, bend, and stand for long periods of time.
