Job Summary

Responsibilities
  • Provide direct patient care to patients with a variety of medical conditions, including pancreatitis, GI bleeds, bowel obstructions, and wound infections.
  • Collaborate with the healthcare team to develop and implement individualized care plans for patients.
  • Administer medications and treatments as prescribed by physicians.
  • Monitor patients' vital signs and report any changes or concerns to the healthcare team.
  • Participate in patient education and discharge planning to ensure a smooth transition of care.
  • Work effectively in a team environment to achieve patient care goals and objectives.
Requirements
  • Current/valid Louisiana License or Compact License.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience as a Registered Nurse in a post-op GI and wound care unit.
  • ACLS, BLS, PALS, NRP, TNCC, EFM, and other certifications as required by the unit.
  • Ability to work a 13-week contract with a flexible schedule, including weekend blocks.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience working with PEG, PEJ, PCA, per drain, JP drain, hemo vac, wound vac, nephrostomy tubes, ileostomy, colostomy, urostomy, and surgical drains.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong problem-solving and critical thinking skills.
  • Ability to adapt to changing situations and priorities.
