Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Distribution Engineer to join our team at Leidos. As a key member of our Power Delivery Services Team, you will be responsible for designing and developing electrical distribution systems for our clients in the utility industry.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement electrical distribution design packages for clients, including overhead and underground systems.
  • Review and assess client requirements and scopes, ensuring that all applicable engineering and construction standards are met.
  • Perform complex engineering calculations, including structural analysis, guying calculations, and voltage drop and flicker analysis.
  • Provide engineering support during construction, including post-construction reviews and root cause analysis of outages.
  • Collaborate with clients and internal stakeholders to develop and implement large-scale design packages for complex cable/conduit projects in dense urban environments.
Requirements
  • 2-5 years of relevant work experience in electric distribution design engineering, either in a consulting environment or working directly at an electric utility.
  • Bachelor's degree in an Engineering discipline from an accredited institution, or additional relevant experience in lieu of an engineering-specific degree.
  • Experience with utility reliability projects, including the execution of distribution projects from kickoff through design approval.
  • Ability to demonstrate proficiency with the National Electric Safety Code (NESC).
  • Valid U.S. driver's license and willingness to perform both field and office work.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Previous QAQC experience and experience providing estimated costs and development of a Bill of Materials (BOM).
  • Experience with design tools such as Pole Foreman, O-Calc, and Spida-Calc.
  • Experience with the Work Management System CREWS and relevant management or leadership experience.
  • Relevant experience with the utility FirstEnergy or its subsidiaries.
