Job Title: Latin Teacher
Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly qualified and experienced Latin Teacher to join our team at Norfolk Public Schools. The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching Latin to secondary students, developing and implementing engaging lesson plans, and assessing student progress.
Responsibilities:
- Teach Latin to secondary students, utilizing a variety of instructional methods and materials.
- Develop and implement lesson plans that meet the needs of diverse learners.
- Assess student progress and adjust instruction accordingly.
- Communicate with parents and school counselors to ensure student success.
- Participate in faculty committees and sponsor student activities.
- Maintain professional standards and serve on committees to advise on non-academic affairs.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree with a major in the target foreign language.
- Tuberculin Skin Test certifying that the individual is free of contagious tuberculosis.
- Eligible for, or in possession of, appropriate Virginia Teaching Certificate.
- Above average amount of walking, bending, standing, stooping, and lifting in a classroom environment and laboratories.
- Work involves exposure to normal everyday hazards.
- Work is performed in a classroom and requires no unusual demands.
Working Conditions:
The teacher will work in a classroom environment with a moderate level of noise and activity. The teacher will be required to stand, walk, and move around the classroom to interact with students and demonstrate instructional materials.
