Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Production Assistant to join our team in the Scene Shop. As a key member of our production team, you will work closely with students and faculty to create scenery for our theater department's productions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the construction of scenery using power and hand tools
  • Paint and finish scenery to meet production standards
  • Install scenery on our stages, ensuring safe and efficient setup
  • Find or build props as needed for department productions
  • Maintain a clean and organized workspace, adhering to safety protocols

Requirements:

  • At least 1 academic year of experience as a Production Assistant in the Scene Shop
  • Consistent attendance and punctuality for assigned shifts
  • Self-motivated with ability to identify and complete tasks with minimal supervision
  • Familiarity with different types of lumber and plywood
  • Proficiency in using hand, portable, and stationary power tools
  • Ability to build a scenic unit from a drawing with some instruction
  • Knowledge of safety procedures for stage and shop operations
