The Saddle Stitching Machine Operator plays a pivotal role in the finishing department at Mittera Group. This position is integral to the production process, ensuring that high-quality products are delivered efficiently and safely.

Key Responsibilities
  • Effectively operate saddle stitcher machinery in compliance with safety standards to produce quality outputs.
  • Interpret job tickets, layout sheets, and artwork specifications prior to commencing tasks.
  • Prepare and adjust the stacker, tiers, mail head, and mail control for optimal performance.
  • Manage all operational aspects of the saddle stitcher, including pockets, gatherer, stitcher heads, in-feed, trimmer, mail table, and mail head.
  • Handle demographic and inkjet make-ready and operation.
  • Assist material handlers during continuous production runs and provide guidance during downtime and clean-up activities.
  • Promote and uphold safety practices while identifying opportunities for operational improvements.
  • Communicate effectively with supervisors regarding any emerging issues to prioritize corrective actions.
  • Conduct routine and preventive maintenance on all assigned machinery.
  • Maintain a comprehensive list of maintenance concerns for timely resolution.
  • Ensure adherence to OSHA and EPA regulations, as well as company safety protocols.
  • Encourage teamwork and collaboration among crew members and across shifts.
Qualifications

Essential Skills and Competencies

  • Prior experience with stitcher binders is essential.
  • Ability to meet quality standards and productivity benchmarks.
  • Proficient in reading and interpreting job tickets, layout sheets, and artwork specifications.
  • Strong communication skills to interact with various levels of the organization.
  • Basic mathematical skills for practical problem-solving.
  • Capacity to perform under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
  • Organizational skills to plan, prioritize, and execute projects with minimal oversight.
  • Self-motivated, dependable, and focused on quality and safety.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to use proper body mechanics for lifting, pushing, pulling, and reaching.
  • Capability to lift and move items weighing up to 50 lbs.
  • Requires manual dexterity and coordination for fine motor tasks.
  • Near visual acuity is necessary for detailed work.
  • Must navigate and operate within various departments of the facility.
  • Ability to maintain professionalism in high-stress situations.
