FLEET TIRE MAINTENANCE SPECIALIST

Position Overview

Ecology Transportation Services is seeking a dedicated Tire Maintenance Specialist to enhance our team, providing essential support to our drivers with expertise in various sizes of commercial vehicle tires and wheels.

As a Tire Maintenance Specialist, your responsibilities will include evaluating tread depth and valve integrity, analyzing wear patterns to ascertain tire longevity, retreading tires, and executing tire changes based on operational demands. You will also be tasked with repairing or replacing tires, conducting fleet inspections, responding to road service calls, and performing minor vehicle maintenance.

Key Responsibilities

To excel in this role, you must effectively carry out the following duties:
  • Utilize all required personal protective equipment (PPE) such as gloves and safety glasses during operations.
  • Operate service vehicles to provide fleet services and respond to urgent requests.
  • Employ hydraulic jacks to elevate vehicles.
  • Detach wheels from vehicles using appropriate tools.
  • Remove tires from wheels using mechanical tire changers or manual tools.
  • Inspect tire casings for any defects.
  • Repair punctures in tubeless tires using specialized hand tools.
  • Reassemble tires onto wheels and ensure proper inflation.
  • Reattach wheels to vehicles and replace valve stems as necessary.
  • Rotate tires among different vehicle positions.
  • Assist mechanics and undertake additional tasks as directed.
  • Evaluate tire conditions for replacement needs.
  • Perform service calls on-site and at various locations.
  • Adhere to company policies and safety regulations.

Qualifications and Skills

Experience: 1-2 years in a related field preferred.
  • Possession of a valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
  • Able to pass a DOT physical and drug screening.
  • Willingness to obtain Tire Industry Association Certification through company-sponsored training.
  • Demonstrated strong work ethic.
  • Must be at least 18 years old and legally authorized to work in the United States.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to meet the physical demands of the position with or without accommodations.
  • Must successfully complete pre-employment screenings.
  • Frequent use of hand coordination and physical exertion in handling heavy objects.
  • Exposure to various environmental conditions including noise and weather extremes.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50-75 pounds.

Work Schedule

Typical hours are Monday to Friday from 2 PM to 10:30 PM, with Saturday shifts from 8 AM to 4:30 PM.

Compensation

The Fleet Tire Maintenance Specialist position offers a competitive hourly wage ranging from $16.00 to $20.00, based on experience and qualifications.
