Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Veterinarian to join our team at the Regional Animal Services of King County (RASKC). As a Clinic Veterinarian, you will be responsible for providing high-quality medical care to animals in our shelter and field services. This is a challenging and rewarding role that requires strong communication skills, attention to detail, and a passion for animal welfare.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform examinations and oversee treatment of injured/sick animals
  • Perform examinations, surgery, and spay/neuter shelter and foster animals
  • Monitor animals for unusual conditions during post-operative period
  • Provide consultation and advice regarding animals' health, care, and recommended treatment
  • Recommend referral to another veterinarian or specialist outside of the organization when necessary
  • Provide professional advice to animal shelter staff and volunteers regarding animal care and detection of preventable diseases
  • Diagnose and treat animal health problems, vaccinate, prescribe medications
  • Provide advice to animal owners on nutrition, breeding, and behavior
  • Perform and oversee medical euthanasia and respond to disease in the clinic and/or shelter
Requirements
  • Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) degree or equivalent from a college of veterinary medicine
  • Advanced skills in performing high-quality, high-volume spay/neuter and other surgeries, pathology examinations, euthanasia, and other required procedures
  • Experience in public relations and ability to communicate with diverse internal and external partners
  • Ability to deal with ambiguity and make quality decisions quickly
  • Skilled in using current software programs for word processing, spreadsheets, database, and email
