Job Summary

ITW is seeking a skilled Mechanical Assembler to join our team. As a key member of our IDS division, you will be responsible for building and providing service and technical support for standard and large, complex automation machine systems.

Key Responsibilities
  • Build complex automated standalone machines as well as large automations with multiple station systems, including feeder systems and robotics.
  • Assist in conceptualizing and building machines and tooling, and occasionally build low-level automations and fixtures with little to no engineering support.
  • Test and troubleshoot systems, including basic printing, and know tooling and fixtures and how they affect print quality.
  • Tear down and refurbish existing systems, clean, replace parts, and adjust as needed.
  • Perform project management tasks, working with Engineering, Sales, Parts, and software systems to ensure machine building tasks are completed on-time and per schedule.
  • Design and manufacture safety guarding for automation machines.
  • Work closely with customers, Sales, and Engineering during customer acceptance testing, including communication, system testing, and troubleshooting.
  • Provide technical phone support to customer maintenance staff as needed.
  • Advise and recommend manufacturing process and procedure improvements to management.
Requirements
  • Technical/vocational school certificate or associate's degree or equivalent experience in mechanical/pneumatic assembly or repair.
  • 4-5 years of industrial automation machine assembly experience, including strong mechanical, pneumatic testing, and debugging.
  • Electrical and pneumatic controls knowledge required.
  • Field Service experience required, with basic electrical wiring/testing experience.
  • Valid driver's license required.

Plant Conditions (100%); Travel (0%); Machines, Tools, Equipment, and Work Aids: Hand tools, drills, grinders, lathe, digital multi-meter, ohm meter, and material handling equipment including forklift.
