Position Summary
In the role of Buyer, you will be instrumental in managing the procurement of materials based on requisitions from planners. You will serve as the primary liaison between suppliers and operational teams, ensuring accurate purchase order management and timely communication regarding supplier performance and delivery issues. Your contributions will directly influence production efficiency and foster strong supplier relationships.
Key Responsibilities
- Assess material requirements over a three-month horizon, identifying potential supply risks and coordinating necessary actions (15%)
- Monitor open purchase orders to ensure alignment with need dates and supplier commitments, tracking shipment progress (15%)
- Convert material requisitions from planners into purchase orders (10%)
- Maintain supplier knowledge regarding purchase orders and communicate delivery timelines effectively (10%)
- Implement planner requests for material procurement, including adjustments to orders (10%)
- Address and resolve receiving material holds and invoice discrepancies (10%)
- Communicate updates regarding supplier parameters to sourcing teams (5%)
- Manage material deviations as approved by engineering in response to supplier delivery challenges (5%)
- Oversee phase-in and phase-out processes in accordance with planning and sourcing directives (5%)
- Conduct market research and analyze purchasing variances as per sourcing approvals (5%)
Qualifications
- Advanced proficiency in English, with a background in Procurement, Planning, or related fields
- Strong multitasking abilities and effective prioritization skills
- Capability to work independently with a sense of ownership
- Proficient in data analysis for purchasing needs and inventory management
- Knowledge of supply chain logistics, including import/export processes
- Meticulous attention to detail and commitment to data accuracy
- Strong vendor relationship management and negotiation skills
- Excellent interpersonal communication skills
Education
A bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Operations Management, Logistics, or a related discipline is required, along with a minimum of two years of relevant experience.
Physical Requirements
This position involves sedentary work, requiring minimal physical exertion.
Travel Requirements
Travel may be required up to 25% domestically.
