Project Manager

We are seeking a highly skilled Project Engineer to join our team at Virginia Paving Company. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing, managing, and executing all phases of the construction cost control effort and the construction planning/scheduling effort for one or more large, complex, and demanding projects.
Key Responsibilities- Assist the project team in formulating and updating project schedules.
- Produce cost estimates for projects and pricing proposals to clients.
- Initiate purchase orders, subcontract agreements, and change orders for review by the project manager.
- Track weekly production quantities for accurate weekly/monthly cost reports.
- Produce and verify monthly pay requests with the owner.
- Process all shop drawings, submittals, and coordinate material deliveries with the project superintendent.
- Responsible for and verifies all monthly accruals, revenue, and costs.
- Provide technical and operational assistance to the Quality Control Team.
- Interact with subcontractors as required.
- Responsible for maintenance of the project schedule, including materials, equipment, and subcontractors.
- Assist the Operations Manager in defining and optimizing the means and methods for the project.
- Ensure that the administrative and accounting information from the field are accurate and reliable.
- Participate at the final acceptance of the project (with the Project Manager).
- Responsible for maintenance of a safe working environment.
- Oversee onsite Construction and Field Engineers.
- A Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering or Construction Management is required.
- Three or more years of previous experience as a Project Engineer, with an emphasis on roads, highways, and bridges.
- Strong PC skills, including proficiency in various software used such as Excel, Primavera, and SAP.
- Familiarity with construction industry practices is required.
- Ability to understand work directions and communicate effectively with project managers and on-site employees.
- Strong oral/written communication and organizational skills.
- Ability to manage and supervise engineering on multiple projects.

- Work is performed outdoors in all weather conditions.
- Work is also performed indoors in an office setting.
- Work environment periodically exposes employees to high levels of noise, grease, and dust that is typically associated with a construction project.
- Employee regularly works near heavy equipment and moving machinery.
- Work may involve a variety of substances commonly found on construction sites such as form oil, grease, curing compounds, gasoline, diesel fuel, and ready-mixed concrete.
