The incumbent will execute all necessary functions to register patients, secure required authorizations, confirm the patient has a funding source for services, and arrange surgical appointments. The role involves addressing patient inquiries and resolving any identified concerns.

Essential Qualifications:

  • Prior experience with patient registration and scheduling systems.
  • Possession of the skills, knowledge, and abilities necessary for successful job performance.
  • General understanding of medical terminology.
  • Demonstrated customer service skills relevant to the position.
  • Willingness to travel to off-site healthcare practices.
  • A minimum of one (1) year of recent experience (within the last two (2) years) in patient registration at a hospital or clinic, as a Medical Assistant, or in medical billing.
  • Basic knowledge of ICD9 and CPT coding.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
  • Proficient in the use of MS Office applications.
  • Ability to work weekends, holidays, and evenings as required.
  • Capacity to maintain an appropriate work pace in relation to workload.
  • Aptitude for interpreting and understanding various medical insurance plans and making accurate coverage determinations.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships across the healthcare system.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with university and medical center organizational structures, policies, procedures, and documentation.
  • Knowledge of Joint Commission standards.
  • Experience with Epic systems.
  • Demonstrated experience with the authorization process and surgical scheduling.
  • Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish.
