Job Title: Principal/Sr. Principal Systems Engineer

Northrop Grumman is seeking a highly skilled Principal/Sr. Principal Systems Engineer to join our team in Linthicum/Annapolis Junction, MD. As a key member of our Systems Engineering Integration & Test (SEIT) department, you will play a critical role in developing high-performance computing systems.

Job Summary:

The successful candidate will be responsible for planning and supporting the core functions of the project team, ensuring qualified staff are in place to execute the program core functions. You will also support close-out program reviews, ensure system technical compliance with the program Statement of Work (SOW) and system requirements, and manage the vertical and horizontal technical integration throughout the product teams and program life cycle.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Plan and support the core functions and ensure the project team has qualified staff to execute the program core functions.
  • Support close-out program reviews (e.g., SRR, SFR, SDR, PDR, CDR, SVR, TRR, peer reviews, Pre-test reviews, Post Test Reviews, Pre-Ship reviews, etc.).
  • Ensure system technical compliance with the program Statement of Work (SOW) and system requirements.
  • Manage the vertical and horizontal technical integration throughout the product teams and program life cycle.
  • Oversee configuration management of the overall Program Baseline.
  • Serve as the Logistics and Supportability Interface ensuring that all applicable specialty engineering disciplines horizontally integrate across applicable phases of the program lifecycle.
  • Collect, manage, and report the program metrics and Technical Performance Measures (TPMs).
  • Manage risk and opportunity and the production of core engineering work products and track the work products and associated program dependencies in the program schedule.
  • Oversee the establishment and execution of the program lifecycle and work products.
  • Support the transition of the project to the operations, maintenance, and sustainment stakeholders.
  • Coordinate between the System Architect, Chief Engineer, Product Team Lead(s), program manager, and customer to ensure the integrity and executability of the program technical baseline.
  • Align measurement objectives and activities to meet program performance goals and objectives.
Requirements:

The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's degree in a STEM discipline with 5 years of experience, a Master's degree in a STEM discipline with 3 years of experience, or a PhD in a STEM discipline with 0 years of experience. Demonstrated experience with Model Based Systems Engineering (SysML), CAMEO, Requirements Management from Elicitation to Verification, Backlog Planning and Management, and systems development, integration, and test is required. A U.S. citizen with an active DoD TS/SCI with poly security clearance business requirements is also necessary.

Preferred Qualifications:

Risk and Opportunity Management experience, experience leading technical teams, demonstrated experience with Systems Development Lifecycle, Focus on SRR to CDR, knowledge of Systems Engineering processing from generation of an Integrated Master Plan (IMP) to Work Product Breakdown into Integrated Master Schedules (IMS) for the development of complex systems of systems, Master's degree or PhD in STEM or technical management, understanding of DoD systems engineering requirements (UAF), and multi-disciplinary engineering exposure (Software, Hardware, Electrical) and strong ability to communicate cross-functionally are preferred.

This position is contingent upon clearance. The salary range for this position is $102,400 - $160,900, with a salary range 2 of $127,000 - $199,600. Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
