Job Title: Commodity Trader

Join ADM, a global leader in human and animal nutrition and the world's premier agricultural origination and processing company, as a Commodity Trader. This is a full-time, exempt position based in Lincoln, NE.

About the Role:

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Commodity Trader to join our team. As a Commodity Trader, you will be responsible for the procurement of grain and oilseeds, and/or the marketing of finished goods to achieve optimum financial results. You will develop an understanding of local, national, and global market trends, calculate business margins and their effect on commodity pricing, and manage local bids and offers.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Build and maintain positive relationships with customers and colleagues from other ADM Processing Plants.
  • Seek out new business opportunities that would profitably enhance ADM company assets.
  • Understand customer requirements and strive to meet them to differentiate ourselves from competition.
  • Handle all accounting-related issues in a timely manner to ensure good customer service.
  • Make quick decisions in a fast market while accepting the responsibility to defend them logically.
  • Develop a keen understanding of local, national, and world markets and trends.
  • Price discovery and bid/offer maintenance to improve risk management and pricing.
  • Understand the value of ADM-owned transportation (i.e., barges, trucks, and railcars).
  • Develop a good working knowledge of freight spreads and competitor activities.
  • Develop a keen understanding and working knowledge of ADM information technology systems.
  • Ensure that individual goals are aligned with company goals.
  • Constantly work on individual personal development within the company.
  • Develop a good understanding of local plant operations.
  • Work to attain positive, collaborative relationships with internal colleagues across divisions and responsibilities.
  • Portray a positive image of the company and self when interacting with customers and colleagues.
  • Prepare and submit daily and ad-hoc reports.
Requirements:
  • Pursuing a four-year degree in Business or an Agriculture-related field.
  • GPA of 2.8 or greater is preferred.
  • Open to relocation throughout the U.S.
