Arborist Trainee

About the Role:

We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Tree Trimmer Trainee to join our team at Lewis Tree Service. As a key member of our crew, you will be responsible for performing line clearing and tree trimming duties for our utility customers.

Key Responsibilities:

• Participate in an innovative climbing skills training program
• Work in a team environment as part of a tight-knit crew
• Perform line clearing and tree trimming duties, including pruning trees and limbs, trimming or removal of trees, and removing broken limbs from wires, roofs, etc.
• Climb trees for manual trimming and removals in and above the power lines
• Prepare, operate, and maintain all tools and equipment, including hand tools, chainsaws, chippers, and aerial lifts
• Remove limbs and brush, clean up, and dispose of debris
• Mix and apply spray chemicals to preserve desirable vegetation
• Safeguard employees and the public from hazards in and around the working area and help enforce on-the-job safety practices

Requirements:

• At least six months of experience as a crew member as a ground person or equivalent, working around utility wires
• Ability to perform physical labor, including lifting a minimum of 50 lbs to shoulder height or more
• Capable of operating two-handed equipment, such as chain saws and circular saws, and have the physical ability to endure extreme climate variances
• Willing and able to obtain specialized training and certifications, such as tree species identification and Local, state, and federal licenses
• Ability to obtain First Aid and CPR cards
• Pass a pre-employment drug test and job duty skills tests
• Ability to obtain a valid Driver's License
