Position Title: Visual Arts Educator
DLSA Classification: Non-Exempt
Reports to: Principal
Position Purpose: Instruct students in grades 5 through 8 in a diverse range of artistic mediums, fostering opportunities for creative expression and preparing them for art-focused high school admissions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare necessary materials for various art projects prior to scheduled classes.
- Maintain accurate grading records for art to be included in progress reports and report cards.
- Assist students in developing portfolios for high school application processes.
- Supervise students during lunch, gym, and hallway transitions as assigned.
- Comply with school policies regarding attendance, punctuality, record-keeping, and family communication.
- Engage in school events and pursue professional development opportunities.
- Organize and display completed student artwork for the annual showcase.
- Ensure orderly storage and maintenance of art supplies.
- Bachelor's degree and relevant experience in the subject area.
- Demonstrated record of good attendance.
- Strong organizational and management capabilities.
- Ability to adapt in a dynamic educational environment.
- Primarily operates in a school setting.
- Ability to sit, stand, bend, reach, walk, and actively engage with students during class.
- Capability to lift up to 30 lbs.
