Nursery Coordinator

Job Summary

The Archdiocese of Seattle is seeking a dedicated and caring individual to serve as a Nursery Coordinator. This role is responsible for providing a safe and engaging environment for children from prekindergarten age to 5 years old during Sunday Masses and other activities.

Key Responsibilities

• Coordinate the scheduling of babysitters for specific events, ensuring a minimum age requirement of 21 years old for coordinators and 18 years old for lead babysitter helpers.
• Plan and implement activities for children, including games, reading, coloring, drawing, and handwork, to promote their cognitive, social, and emotional development.
• Assist children in developing habits of cleanliness and responsibility, including picking up and putting away toys, books, and other items.
• Direct tasks related to eating, resting, and toileting, as appropriate for the children's age.
• Provide snacks and refreshments to children as needed and regulate rest periods accordingly.
• Monitor the play area for safety and order, ensuring a secure environment for all children.
• Participate in cleaning and preparing the childcare room for the next activity.
• Notify the nursery coordinator of any accidents, repairs to the play area, or damaged toys.
• Maintain knowledge and skills required for the role through reading relevant materials and participating in training as necessary.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 21 years old.
• Comply with the Safe Environment Program, including a background check, completion of a Safe Environment class, and maintenance of CPR training and First Aid certification.
• Encouraged to complete a babysitting course offered by local hospitals or organizations.
