Our expected salary range is $99,000 to $110,000, varies based on experience, along with comprehensive benefits package that includes bonus and 401(k).

Responsibilities

The State and Local Tax Senior Analyst (SALT Senior) applies state and local tax knowledge in assisting with state and local tax audits, aiding in tax decisions, identifying tax planning opportunities and risks, and implementing tax planning.

This individual researches various state tax issues to arrive at the most advantageous and proper treatment under the tax law and documents the analysis and conclusions.

The SALT Senior reviews state tax returns and supporting schedules to confirm that the appropriate positions are taken, assists with the corporate-wide state income/franchise, property tax, and transaction tax issues, and drafts a wide range of state and local tax memoranda.

Stays abreast of state and local tax developments and informs team members of the same.

Primary Duties and Accountabilities
  1. Gathers data, formulates position statements, coordinates, or negotiates with respect to examinations by state tax authorities.
  2. Investigates and solves technical state tax issues, including those connected with state tax returns and planning.
  3. Assists with implementation of complex state tax planning strategies and the resolution of a broad range of associated issues.
  4. Reviews workpapers, schedules, reports and other correspondence, state tax returns, or other items related to tax returns or to tax payments necessary to comply with tax laws, or other items related to accounting for state income taxes.
  5. Researches various state tax matters to arrive at the most advantageous and proper treatment under the law; prepares memoranda (including ASC 740 memoranda) on conclusions.
  6. Uses knowledge of state tax concepts to seek to identify opportunities to minimize company's tax burden.
Minimum Qualifications

Undergraduate Accounting or other financial discipline

5+ years related tax experience & 3+ years of state sales/use and/or income/franchise tax consulting/planning experience

Qualifications

Advanced degree, such as Master's in Tax an/or Juris Doctorate

CPA License

Big 4 experience
