Overview of the Role: The HVAC Service Technician plays a crucial role in the installation, upkeep, and repair of heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems. This position emphasizes effective communication with clients, diagnosing and resolving issues, conducting regular maintenance, and ensuring optimal and safe system performance.

Primary Responsibilities:


  1. Client Engagement:
    • Engage with clients to clarify system problems, repair alternatives, and maintenance protocols.
    • Deliver outstanding customer service by addressing client inquiries, resolving concerns, and ensuring satisfaction.
  2. Installation and Upkeep:
    • Install HVAC systems, encompassing air conditioning units, furnaces, heat pumps, and ventilation systems.
    • Conduct routine maintenance on HVAC systems, which includes cleaning, adjusting, and lubricating components.
  3. Diagnosis and Repair:
    • Identify HVAC system problems and propose suitable repair solutions.
    • Fix or replace faulty components, such as motors, thermostats, and compressors.
  4. System Evaluation:
    • Assess HVAC systems for proper functionality and efficiency.
    • Utilize diagnostic instruments to evaluate airflow, refrigerant levels, and electrical systems.
  5. Safety Adherence:
    • Follow safety guidelines and protocols to maintain a secure working environment.
    • Comply with OSHA standards and organizational safety policies.
  6. Record Keeping and Reporting:
    • Maintain precise records of services rendered, including work orders, maintenance logs, and repair documentation.
    • Complete service reports and provide comprehensive summaries of work performed to clients and supervisors.
  7. Inventory Oversight:
    • Oversee the inventory of HVAC parts and supplies on service vehicles.
    • Order and replenish parts as necessary to ensure availability for repairs.
  8. Ongoing Education:
    • Stay informed about industry developments, new HVAC technologies, and best practices.
    • Engage in training sessions and workshops to enhance technical expertise.
  9. Quality Control:
    • Ensure all work adheres to quality standards and meets client expectations.
    • Conduct final evaluations to confirm that HVAC systems are operating correctly.
Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or equivalent; technical school certification is advantageous.
  • Demonstrated experience as an HVAC service technician.
  • In-depth knowledge of HVAC systems, installation, maintenance, and repair.
  • Ability to interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals.
  • Skilled in using diagnostic tools and equipment.
  • Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.
  • Valid driver's license and a clean driving record.
  • EPA certification for refrigerant handling is mandatory.
  • Physical capability to perform manual tasks, including lifting, bending, and working in confined spaces.
Work Environment:
  • Work is conducted in both residential and commercial settings, indoors and outdoors.
  • Exposure to varying weather conditions and temperatures.
  • Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) is required.
Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds regularly.
  • Ability to stand, walk, and climb ladders or scaffolding.
  • Ability to work in confined spaces and at heights.
