Position: Parts Counter Specialist


This role entails assisting customers by accurately identifying required items, utilizing parts catalogs and computer systems, processing merchandise orders, and making necessary entries into the inventory management system, while distributing special order parts, receiving warranty items, and maintaining stock levels.


Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with the parts team to enhance departmental profitability.
- Determine the model, serial number, and type of part required.
- Consult catalogs, John Deere Vision, or computer systems for replacement part stock numbers and pricing.
- Order and receive parts from John Deere and other suppliers.
- Fulfill customer orders from inventory.
- Ensure technicians receive the correct parts promptly.
- Manage the receipt and shipment of parts in compliance with DOT regulations.
- Monitor lost sales.
- Stay informed on new product bulletins and catalogs.
- Prepare computerized invoices.
- Process payments or obtain credit authorization.
- Advise customers on substitutions or modifications when replacements are unavailable.
- Deliver and collect parts for customers and vendors as necessary.
- Manage periodic parts returns as required.
- Attend training sessions and departmental meetings.
- Inspect returned parts to assess defects and facilitate exchanges or refunds.
- Organize and store parts in the stockroom according to a pre-established system.

Always ensure that defective merchandise is properly tagged with the date, hours used, serial number, model number, correct part number, and placed in warranty bins.

Return all unsold merchandise immediately to the appropriate stock location.
Notify the Parts Manager of any discrepancies between inventory records and shelf quantities.
Maintain a clean and safe working environment.
Assist with annual physical inventory counts.
Control expenses to enhance profitability.
Perform other duties as assigned.

Additional Qualifications/Responsibilities

Experience, Education, Skills, and Knowledge:

- Minimum of 1 year of experience in Parts Department operations preferred.
- Proficient in standard desktop applications such as Microsoft Office and internet functions.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Willingness to work extended hours and weekends.
- Excellent customer service abilities.
- High School Diploma or equivalent experience required.
- Capability to lift a minimum of 50 lbs.
