Endoscopy Technician

We are seeking a skilled Endoscopy Technician to join our team at St. Luke's Hospital. As an Endoscopy Technician, you will play a critical role in providing high-quality patient care and supporting the nursing staff and physicians in the Endoscopy Unit.
Key Responsibilities- Perform care and maintenance of GI Endoscopes, ensuring they are in good working condition for procedures.
- Set up and break down procedures in GI procedure rooms according to procedural and physician requirements.
- Provide intra-procedure assistance to nurses and physicians, ensuring excellent patient care and safety throughout the endoscopic procedure.
- Assist with transporting patients between pre/post procedure areas, procedure rooms, and patient care areas.
- Clean, disinfect, or calibrate scopes and other endoscopic instruments according to manufacturer recommendations and facility standards.
- Maintain working inventories of endoscopic equipment and supplies.
- Anticipate physician needs to ensure excellent patient care and safety throughout the endoscopic procedure.
- Provide physical and emotional support to patients throughout their encounter.
- Troubleshoot issues pertaining to endoscopes and instruments used during procedures.
- Assist with ordering and restocking of supplies.
- Assist with scheduling patients and inputting information in the GI database.
- Control the flow of daily schedules by communicating with office staff, surgery coordinators, and physicians for same-day patients and accuracy of next-day patients.
- Assist in the observation area, documenting vitals, retrieving clothes, and contacting family members providing transportation home.
- Perform pre-op phone calls to patients with specific instructions regarding procedures, based on department guidelines.
- Assist with PCA duties in APU and PACU.
- Complete quality monitoring and maintain documentation of such.
- Enter Hernia data into the program for the Hernia Center of Excellence.
- High School Graduate or GED Equivalent.
- Specialized training and experience in processing instruments, especially Flexible Endoscopes, a plus.
- Planned 4 to 6 weeks of orientation to the Endoscopy Suite by an endoscopy technician or professional nurse.
- Ongoing in-service programs and on-the-job experiences/training.
- Customized orientation to each endoscopic procedure.
- Successful completion of BLS Course.
- Basic computer skills needed.
