Job Title: Quantum Computing Research Mathematician

We are seeking a highly skilled Quantum Computing Research Mathematician to join our Mathematics Research Group at the National Security Agency.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in quantum algorithms and/or quantum error correction, with experience in research and/or development beyond basic coursework.

You will be responsible for engaging with NSA and US government quantum computing efforts, identifying important research problems, and conducting research to support NSA and US government goals in quantum computing.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct research in quantum algorithms and/or quantum error correction
  • Engage with NSA and US government quantum computing efforts
  • Identify important research problems and conduct research to support NSA and US government goals

Requirements:

  • Research and/or development experience in quantum algorithms and/or quantum error correction
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Desire for continual learning
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and within diverse teams

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of mathematical concepts, principles, and theories
  • Knowledge of other scientific and engineering disciplines
  • Experience with at least one of the following programming languages and/or software packages: C/C++, Rust, Python, SageMath, MAGMA
