To qualify for this role, candidates must possess a Kentucky State Radiation Operators License, along with certification from the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists as a Registered Radiologic Technologist (ARRT RT). Additionally, Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is necessary.
Physical Demands
This position involves physical activities such as lifting, pushing, and pulling objects weighing up to 50 lbs, as well as standing or walking with items up to 25 lbs. The role requires prolonged standing while wearing radiation protective gear and entails a risk of back injury from patient handling and equipment use, alongside potential radiation exposure.
Work Schedule
Shifts may vary between days and evenings, with on-call responsibilities during nights and weekends.
Position Overview
The University of Kentucky Healthcare is expanding its Interventional Radiology services and is seeking skilled technologists to join our team. The Interventional Radiology Technologist will play a crucial role in providing clinical support during procedures, assisting physicians in delivering timely care. This role includes offering technical assistance in CT, ultrasound, and fluoroscopy-guided procedures, with a strong emphasis on quality, efficiency, and service excellence.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist as a scrub tech or circulator during procedures.
- Manage supply charges, documentation, and charging processes.
- Maintain patient efficiency by allocating appropriate time for each task and engaging effectively with patients.
Professional Standards
Adherence to the University of Kentucky's behavioral standards is essential during interactions with patients, colleagues, and physicians, as well as with both internal and external stakeholders. Maintaining privacy and confidentiality is mandatory.
Career Advancement
There is potential for progression to the Master Technologist role upon obtaining advanced registry and demonstrating proficiency with equipment.
Eligibility for Advancement
Applicants with an Associate's degree and three years of relevant experience (or equivalent) along with ARRT certification may be eligible for immediate consideration for the Interventional Master Technologist position.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in Interventional Radiology is preferred, although any radiologic technology experience is acceptable.
