KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
This position entails welcoming, guiding, and assisting patients and visitors with professionalism and efficiency during their visit. Responsibilities include scheduling and registering patients while accurately collecting necessary information. The role also involves assessing service eligibility and advising patients on payment policies, as well as overseeing the collection of outstanding balances. Additionally, the Patient Access Specialist will manage the waiting area, keeping patients informed about wait times and ensuring a pleasant and tidy environment.
CORE DUTIES
- Deliver exceptional customer service consistently.
- Operate the phone system, which includes answering multi-line calls, prioritizing patient needs, and managing staff communications.
- Schedule appointments and confirm them as needed.
- Ensure patient demographic information is accurate and current during appointment scheduling and check-in.
- Perform data entry into the patient management system, including scanning and inputting all necessary registration documents.
- Prepare charts as required.
- Maintain financial and insurance records for all patients based on eligibility and coverage, ensuring the information is updated in the patient management system.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
- Proven ability to provide excellent customer service to a diverse patient population.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Basic financial management skills, including cash handling and posting charges.
- Proficiency in navigating various software applications, including EHR systems, Microsoft Office, and multi-line phone systems.
- Self-motivated with the ability to work independently.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Previous experience as a receptionist in a healthcare, dental, or social services environment.
- Strong financial management or accounting skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Bilingual skills (English/Spanish) are advantageous.
