The Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) is responsible for delivering comprehensive nursing care that emphasizes the patient as a complete individual, fostering a nurturing atmosphere that prioritizes recovery and well-being.
This role involves honoring the physical, emotional, and spiritual aspects of patients by upholding their dignity and recognizing their individuality.Nursing practices are grounded in empirical evidence and contemporary research, alongside adherence to institutional and departmental protocols, regulatory requirements, and professional standards.
Clinical judgment integrates all four stages of the nursing process, alongside critical analysis and innovative thinking. Nursing excellence is cultivated through collaborative relationships among nursing personnel and interdisciplinary teams.The Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) exemplifies compassion, acceptance, respect, and empathy, reinforcing nursing as a unique profession and fostering an environment dedicated to healing and wellness.
In this clinical role, the individual dedicates the majority of their time (over 50%) to coordinating, ensuring, and delivering direct patient care activities within the unit, which includes: conducting nursing rounds, performing assessments and treatments; facilitating patient admissions, transfers, and discharges; providing education centered on patients and their families; coordinating care and developing personalized treatment plans as necessary, among other responsibilities.
Required Qualifications:
Current RN licensure or work permit in Kentucky
Bachelor's Degree in Nursing from an accredited institution.
In the absence of a Bachelor's Degree, an Associate's Degree in Nursing may be accepted for initial employment, with the understanding that the individual must enroll in a Bachelor's Degree program within 12 months and complete the degree within 5 years.
Basic Life Support certificationACLS/PALS/NRP certification and successful completion of dysrhythmia training as mandated by the department of assignment
