Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Day Habilitation Supports Specialist to join our team at HMEA, Inc. As a key member of our staff, you will play a vital role in promoting the values, dreams, and potential of individuals with developmental disabilities through education and meaningful activities.

Responsibilities
  • Demonstrate a deep understanding of and commitment to our agency's mission and values.
  • Provide information to individuals regarding their human rights, privacy, and confidentiality in a respectful and professional manner.
  • Adhere to agency policies and procedures, including work schedules, time off, and transportation arrangements.
  • Interact verbally with individuals, families, coworkers, supervisors, and community members in a professional and respectful manner.
  • Set aside personal biases and fears to support individuals in taking risks and making informed decisions.
  • Maintain confidentiality and complete required documentation in a timely and professional manner.
  • Identify local community resources and ensure individuals have access to necessary resources on a consistent basis.
  • Maintain a respectful tone and manner with others.
  • Promote teamwork and open communication among staff members and individuals supported by the program.
  • Implement teaching strategies for ISP goals and behavior plans effectively.
  • Encourage and support individuals in making independent choices to the greatest extent possible.
  • Maintain HMEA property and equipment adequately.
  • Complete required trainings and maintain certifications.
  • Perform other reasonably related duties as assigned.

  • Safety and Security: actively promotes and personally observes safety and security procedures, and uses equipment and materials properly.
Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • One year experience in developmental services/behavioral health area preferred.
  • Valid driver's license along with an acceptable driving status.
  • Use of a reliable vehicle, which seats two passengers.
  • Additional specific experience may be required.
