Libertarian Welfare Policy Analyst

We are seeking a talented Libertarian Welfare Policy Analyst to join our team in Washington, DC. As a key member of our Economic and Social Policy Studies department, you will play a crucial role in shaping our policy initiatives and influencing public debate on poverty and social welfare.
Responsibilities- Analyze and write about poverty and social welfare policy, its effects, and propose libertarian reforms.
- Develop detailed analyses of welfare policy for Cato Institute publications, including policy briefs, op-eds, working papers, and blog posts.
- Speak with policymakers, public audiences, and members of the media about social welfare policy and poverty.
- Organize policy forums and events, commission studies from outside experts, and edit research papers.
- A strong commitment to Cato's libertarian values and the ability to defend them in adversarial settings.
- Knowledge of the effects of social welfare policy, existing social welfare programs, and the social science of poverty.
- Strong research skills, written and verbal communication skills, and the ability to work independently on multiple tasks.
- Experience analyzing welfare policy on Capitol Hill, think tanks, academic institutions, or other policy-related positions is a plus.
- An advanced degree in economics, other social sciences, or law is preferred, as well as familiarity with data analysis and modern statistical methods.
