Overview
The Gospel Coalition INC is on the lookout for a Chief Executive Officer.
Key Responsibilities:
FUNDRAISING
The current operational budget for The Gospel Coalition INC is approximately $100,000. Should a salary (or partial salary) be allocated to the Chief Executive Officer position, the budget will be adjusted accordingly. Presently, funding sources comprise about 90% from individual contributions and 10% from church mission allocations. A candidate with robust church connections could significantly influence this distribution. Within individual donations, a substantial portion (around 80-85%) is generated through direct engagement and mailed appeals, while up to 15% is derived from online fundraising efforts. Initiatives are underway to enhance online donation rates.
The budget is categorized as follows: Bible Institutes 40%; American and African team trips close to 20%; salaries for directors in Africa and India, approximately 15%; Pastor Emergency Fund and operational costs in Africa and India 12%; fundraising and administrative expenses in the U.S. 13%.
VISIONARY LEADERSHIP
The foundational vision for this ministry was imparted to Tom Salter and has been communicated to others. The incoming Chief Executive Officer, with Board endorsement, will assume the role of Visionary, possessing the authority to adjust current initiatives as necessary. The pressing need for training International Pastors is evident, with estimates suggesting that 95% of all International Pastors are undertrained, highlighting a critical area for ongoing focus.
MANAGEMENT OVERSIGHT
A robust leadership framework exists in Africa, supervised by the African Director, Dr. Twagirumugabe Dominique. The Executive Director will provide oversight and direction to Dr. Dominique. In India, our leader, Pastor Kempanna, is also under the Executive Director's guidance, though the leadership structure is less established and requires further development. It is noteworthy that The Gospel Coalition INC has been operational in Africa for nearly a decade longer than in India, necessitating increased oversight efforts in India.
TRAINING AND DEVELOPMENT
This responsibility, while listed fourth, is of paramount importance. In India, Tom Salter dedicates five days a week to training pastors via Zoom. However, as more Indian leaders are recruited and developed, this could transition to local leadership. In Africa, what were once annual visits are now likely to occur semi-annually, with the strong leadership base allowing for a potential handover of responsibilities to African leaders.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- A minimum of an MA in Theology, Doctrine, or New (or Old) Testament.
- Experience in training pastors internationally.
- A genuine burden or calling to train pastors abroad.
- Proven experience in fundraising to support a budget.
- Candidates should be 67 years of age or younger.
