System Technician Job Description

WideOpenWest, Inc. is seeking a skilled System Technician to join our team. As a System Technician, you will be responsible for maintaining, servicing, and repairing our hybrid fiber coaxial (HFC) broadband communication network and components.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Maintain and repair HFC networks and components
  • Troubleshoot and repair problems in HFC networks
  • Test, balance, align, and adjust components, cables, and equipment used to amplify and process signals
  • Perform maintenance, testing, and repair on HFC network power supplies
  • Splice and activate fiber optic cables, nodes, transmitters, and receivers
  • Assist in training activities
  • Perform emergency fiber restoration
  • Participate in on-call rotation
  • Identify and report incidents of non-compliance
  • Assure system security
  • Provide superior customer service
Requirements:
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Basic knowledge of electronics and working knowledge of HFC network operation
  • Two to four years of experience and related associate's degree (or equivalent in training and experience)
  • Basic computer skills, including internet and email
