Job Responsibilities

  • Maintain and spot clean all carpets and furniture to ensure a clean and safe environment.
  • Perform daily cleaning tasks in all office, restroom, and laboratory areas.
  • Maintain floors by sweeping, mopping, and scrubbing as required.
  • Ensure regular and punctual attendance to meet the needs of the organization.
  • Coordinate and perform general custodial functions, including sweeping, mopping, dusting, cleaning windows and light fixtures.
  • Restroom cleaning and disinfecting, replenishing paper supplies and soap, and sweeping and mopping nightly.
  • Perform minor maintenance and repair work on custodial equipment.
  • Inspect areas for quality assurance and maintain a custodial log book.
  • Clean office furniture, walls, windows, water faucets, and floors of stains and fingerprints.
  • Operate floor maintenance equipment, including backpack vacuum and mop ringer.
  • Ability to deal effectively with the public and maintain a positive image of the organization.
  • Maintain inventory records of equipment and supplies and reorder as necessary.
  • Ability to read and write English at a 10th grade level.
  • Reliable transportation is preferred.
  • May train others and perform related work as assigned.

Physical Requirements

The position requires standing, walking, and stepping for the length of the shift. Bending up and down may be necessary during the shift. The ability to lift up to 25 pounds with accommodations available is required.

Machines, Tools, Equipment, and Work Aids

The essential functions of this position require the use of cleaning supplies, including a mop, cleaning chemicals, and vacuum. Due to the Coronavirus, spray misters will be utilized as additional equipment for disinfecting.

Environmental Factors

The essential functions of this position are performed indoors with limited outside exposure. Personal Protection Equipment will be provided.

Compensation

  • This is an hourly position with a federal contract wage of $17.20 plus health and welfare benefits of $4.57 per hour.

Work Location

The work location is Greenville, MS.
