Quality Assurance Technician

The Quality Assurance (QA) Technician will play a crucial role in maintaining quality throughout the plant and in all processes at Octopi Brewing. This position involves performing checks and tests to ensure the highest standards of quality are met.
Key Responsibilities- Perform daily sampling and testing of in-process and finished product, including various chemical, physical, and microbiological tests.
- Document test results, confirm that results meet specifications, and implement product holds as necessary.
- Collaborate with production, liquid processing, and warehouse teams to ensure finished product meets all quality and food safety requirements.
- Organize, transcribe, trend, interpret, and summarize analytical data for historical reference and sharing with internal stakeholders.
- Communicate results with brewing, cellaring, batching, and packaging team members to ensure smooth operations.
- Clean, calibrate, and maintain various testing equipment.
- Create and edit new and existing standard operating procedures (SOPs).
- Work with the Quality Manager and other department heads to guarantee client needs and expectations are met.
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment, including regular inventorying of consumables, reagents, media, and other materials.
- Strong attention to detail and organization.
- Strong interpersonal and customer service skills, including excellent verbal and written communication.
- Time management skills with a proven ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
- Ability to function well in a fast-paced environment.
- Familiarity with lab procedures, including pipetting, titrating, pH measurement, and GC sample prep.
- Understanding and appreciation of aseptic technique.
- Ability to utilize all five senses to inspect quality.
- Flexibility with working hours.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality with business-related information.
- Adhere to all PPE and GMP requirements.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment.
- Ability to lift 55lbs and move 165lb as needed.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office programs.
A high school diploma is required. An Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Food Science, Applied Science, Chemistry, Biology, Biochemistry, Biotechnology, Environmental Science, or a similar field is a plus. Prior quality assurance and/or laboratory experience is preferred, as is brewing and/or beverage packaging experience.
