About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and organized Mechanical Engineer Trainee to join our team at Heidelberg Materials US, Inc. in a sustainable business environment.

This is an excellent opportunity to apply the skills you have learned in the classroom to a heavy manufacturing environment and contribute to the success of our cement operations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support operations in achieving production goals through partnering with experienced engineers and managers in different departments.
  • Participate in production and maintenance meetings to ensure smooth operations.
  • Learn basic supervisory skills by working side-by-side with supervisors and contributing to the development of junior team members.
  • Complete assigned project work in your area of expertise and conduct root cause analysis to identify areas for improvement.
  • Participate in various training programs to enhance your knowledge and skills.
  • Contribute to the Continuous Improvement Program by suggesting changes in routines, personnel, equipment, and process improvement.
  • Follow plant and MSHA Safety Policies, including the proper use of Personal Protective Equipment, and maintain an awareness of plant environmental standards.
Requirements
  • A college student studying Mechanical Engineering with a bachelor's degree and a strong interest in process is preferred.
  • A highly organized, efficient, and process improvement mindset and skillset.
  • A person that shows commitment and engagement through a strong work ethic, initiative, and utilization of abilities.
  • Someone able and willing to dive in and help solve problems in the field.
  • Someone with a strong desire to work in a heavy industrial environment.
  • Strong strategic thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Excellent Microsoft Office skills.
  • A multi-tasker who can tackle multiple projects at the same time.
  • Ability and desire to work in a fast-paced environment with 24-hour operations.
