About the Role

Mass General Brigham is seeking a skilled Radiology Technologist Level II to join our team in Somerville, Massachusetts.

This is a part-time position (24 hours per week) dedicated to the Pain Unit at MGH, working closely with an experienced and close-knit team with supportive management.

Key Responsibilities
  • Operate radiologic equipment to produce high-quality clinical X-ray images as directed by physicians.
  • Explain safety protocols and routine procedures to patients, ensuring their comfort and understanding.
  • Perform routine procedures with speed, method, accuracy, and understanding, utilizing various radiographic equipment.
  • Identify patients correctly, interpret exam requests, and obtain patient vital signs.
  • Prepare patients physically and emotionally for treatments, through interview, physical assessment, education, recovery, and patient instruction in self-care.
  • Position and instruct patients regarding procedures, ensuring their safety and comfort.
  • Adjust lead shields and collimate to protect unaffected body parts from radiation exposure.
  • Direct personnel to safe areas before exposure and assist in turning over procedure and exam rooms.
  • Act as a primary liaison between patients and physician staff, providing seamless continuity of care.
  • Monitor clinical schedules to keep physician and team on track for the day.
  • Maintain knowledge of related topics, including radiation safety, universal precautions, and proper handling of requisitions.
Requirements
  • A minimum of high school diploma and successful completion of an accredited school of Radiologic Technology.
  • Certification by the ARRT and a valid license to practice as a radiologic technologist in the state of Massachusetts.
  • Knowledge of anatomy, cross-sectional anatomy, physiology, medical terminology, radiation physics, and radiographic chemistry.
  • Effective interpersonal and communication skills, attention to detail, and ability to provide compassionate care to patients.
  • Ability to recognize emergency situations and respond appropriately, lift over 5 lbs, and read and write English.
