Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Cytotechnologist to join our team at McLaren Health Care. As a Cytotechnologist, you will play a critical role in the diagnosis and treatment of patients by examining and interpreting cytology samples.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform specialized and technically demanding cytology examinations to determine pathological conditions.
  • Maintain laboratory equipment and records following established accreditation guidelines and quality control standards.
  • Examine microscopically and interpret gynecologic and non-gynecologic slides for infectious, reactive/reparative and abnormal cells.
  • Refers appropriate cases for hierarchical review and processes and prepares specimens for examination.
  • Accurately enter data and results within the laboratory information system and maintain quality assurance records.
  • Serve as a technical resource person and troubleshoot problems in the daily operation of equipment and specimen evaluation.
  • Operate, calibrate, prepare and maintain equipment and maintain laboratory supplies inventory.
  • Prepare reports of technological findings by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information.
  • Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops and reviewing professional publications.
  • Maintain a safe and clean working environment and protect patients and employees by adhering to infection-control, hazardous waste and other policies and protocols.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field.
  • Certified as a cytotechnologist or certified within 18 months of hire or transfer.
