GENERAL OVERVIEW:

As part of a collaborative healthcare team, the Pediatric Occupational Therapist delivers therapeutic interventions, encompassing assessment, treatment, and patient education. This role includes supervising the activities of Certified Occupational Therapy Assistants (COTAs) and support staff.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Conducts thorough evaluations of patients assigned, adhering to established care standards and practices.
  • Designs and implements treatment plans tailored to the needs of patients, in compliance with established care protocols.
  • Ensures accurate and timely documentation of all services rendered, in line with departmental guidelines.
  • Participates in mandatory safety training sessions and understands responsibilities related to overall safety, departmental safety, and specific job-related risks.
  • Adheres to hospital protocols regarding exposure control and infection prevention.
  • Exhibits professionalism and respect towards all patients, families, visitors, and colleagues, fostering a courteous and responsible work environment.
  • Encourages effective collaboration and teamwork within the department and across departments to achieve organizational goals.
  • Keeps professional licensure current and provides documentation of licensure status to the supervisor/manager promptly.

QUALIFICATIONS:

A. Education / Training:

• Must have graduated from an accredited Occupational Therapy program.

B. Work Experience:

• Completion of a clinical internship is required.

• Previous experience in clinical or rehabilitation settings is preferred.

C. Certification, Licensure, Registration:

• Must hold a current State Occupational Therapy license.

• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required.
