The Nurse Practitioner will engage with various patient information systems, evaluate case-specific concerns, and address issues related to appointments, financial matters, and clearance for Radiology and other Outpatient services. This role is pivotal in facilitating smooth patient appointment processing while delivering exceptional customer service.
Key Responsibilities:
- Schedule necessary procedures for required services, accommodating patient requests for appointment changes.
- Reach out to patients to gather demographic and insurance details.
- Thoroughly search the Master Patient Index (MPI) to ensure accurate medical record number assignment and notify medical records of any duplicates.
- Coordinate with physician offices as needed to resolve prior authorization or referral form issues.
- Communicate essential exam preparation information directly to patients, including directions and registration arrival times.
- Review patient visit history to ensure compliance with Medicare's 72-hour rule.
- Utilize the hospital's computer system to document account notes for reference by other staff members.
- Verify insurance benefits and obtain necessary precertifications or authorizations.
- Assist with special projects and business analysis as required.

Minimum Qualifications:
Education: High school diploma or equivalent is required.
Skills: This role requires critical thinking abilities, sound judgment, and the capacity to work independently. Candidates must be able to thrive in a high-pressure environment and respond appropriately.
Essential skills include auditory proficiency, effective verbal and written communication, manual dexterity, and the ability to type at least 30 words per minute with high accuracy.
Physical Demands: The position necessitates prolonged sitting, along with some bending, stooping, and stretching. Candidates should possess the eye-hand coordination and manual dexterity to operate office equipment. Normal hearing and vision are required to prepare and communicate reports. The role may involve lifting items up to 50 pounds occasionally.
Experience: A minimum of 3 months of on-the-job training is required.
