The Radiologic Technologist plays a crucial role in the healthcare team by managing and executing x-ray procedures for patients, including fluoroscopic examinations for diagnostic evaluation.

Key Responsibilities
  • Set up x-ray equipment and adjust settings to ensure optimal exposure factors, including time and distance.
  • Utilize beam-restrictive devices and patient shielding techniques to minimize radiation exposure for both patients and staff.
  • Position patients on examination tables and adjust equipment to capture the best possible images of specified body areas as directed by physicians.
  • Process radiographs using both film processors and digital methods.
  • Communicate procedures to patients to alleviate concerns and ensure cooperation.
  • Assess patients' x-ray requirements by interpreting requests or instructions from physicians.
  • Prepare and organize the x-ray room for patient examinations.
  • Perform necessary exposures for requested procedures, ensuring adherence to established quality standards.
  • Operate digital picture archiving and communication systems.
  • Assist in transporting patients to and from examination rooms.
  • Support physicians or other technologists during more complex procedures.
  • Utilize fluoroscopy equipment under physician supervision for joint injections and specialized pain management procedures.
  • Coordinate the efforts of technologists when multiple personnel are required for procedures.
  • Maintain accurate records of patient examinations, including medical histories and technical parameters used.
  • Ensure the availability and functionality of sterile and non-sterile supplies, including medications and necessary equipment.
  • Conduct quality control activities, monitor equipment performance, and report any malfunctions to supervisors.
  • Keep a current file of examination protocols.
  • Provide guidance to fellow technologists on additional views, alternative positioning, or enhanced techniques to ensure high-quality imaging.
  • Assist in the training of new employees and offer feedback to supervisors regarding training performance.

Qualifications

Must be authorized to work in the US without sponsorship.

Minimum of one year of experience in a healthcare setting.

High School Diploma or equivalent required.

Current X-ray certification/license is mandatory.
