Job Summary
The Cytologist with WakeMed performs specialized tasks involved in screening slides of clinical specimens to detect evidence of cancer or other pathological conditions. This role requires a thorough knowledge of the morphology of normal cells and cellular changes associated with physiological states, reactive processes, inflammatory changes, and changes resulting from effects of specific forms of treatment such as irradiation and chemotherapy.
Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be responsible for:
- Evaluating the quality of specimen preparation utilizing knowledge of the expanding variety of methods of preparation and staining in the laboratory
- Performing specialized tasks involved in screening slides of clinical specimens to detect evidence of cancer or other pathological conditions
- Collaborating with healthcare professionals to ensure accurate and timely diagnosis
Requirements
To be considered for this role, you must have:
- 3 Years Clinical - Clinical Laboratory Experience
- Bachelor's Degree in Cytotechnology or a related field
- Certified Cytotechnologist Certification
Work Schedule
This role requires flexibility and adaptability, with a willingness to work a variety of shifts, including weekends and holidays.
