Key Responsibilities
As a Culinary Supervisor, you will:
- Oversee food preparation and meal service to ensure quality and satisfaction.
- Manage ordering processes and food production efficiently.
- Develop and implement cooking schedules to align with meal service times.
- Prepare, season, and serve meals while adhering to portion control standards.
- Create nutritious snacks for residents as directed by the Dietary Manager.
- Collaborate with Dining Management on special events and menu planning.
- Monitor food temperatures during preparation and service to meet safety standards.
- Inspect food products and supplies upon delivery and supervise storage practices.
- Determine food and supply requirements for daily menus and communicate needs to the Dietary Manager.
- Assist in supervising dietary staff in the absence of the Dietary Manager.
- Maintain cleanliness of equipment and work areas as per guidelines.
- Stay informed about federal, state, and facility regulations and policies.
- Participate in educational programs and adhere to safety protocols.
- Understand and follow emergency procedures and disaster plans.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by the Dietary Manager.
Required Skills and Competencies
The ideal candidate will possess:
- A strong customer service orientation.
- Basic knowledge of food preparation techniques.
- Understanding of sanitation and safety practices.
- Excellent time management skills.
- Ability to coach and lead a team effectively.
Physical Requirements
This role requires the ability to stand and walk for extended periods, lift and carry items weighing up to 75 pounds, and work in varying temperatures. Candidates must be capable of performing tasks that involve reaching, bending, and manual dexterity.
Work Schedule
This is an hourly position with a flexible schedule that may include days, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
Qualifications
Strong verbal and written communication skills are essential for interacting with staff, residents, and families. Numerical skills are necessary for maintaining records and preparing recipes. A willingness to perform routine tasks with attention to detail is crucial.
