Job Summary:

The Fire Alarm Technician will be responsible for installing, testing, and maintaining fire alarm systems in various locations. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of fire alarm design, NFPA72, Life Safety 101, and IBC codes.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Install and test fire alarm systems, including pulling cables, terminating, and troubleshooting.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, diagrams, submittals, specifications, software/systems, programs, schematics, and operation/product manuals.
  • Commission new fire alarm systems and document commissioning details.
  • Communicate with clients and colleagues to ensure successful project completion.
  • Adhere to local, corporate, and OSHA safety policies and procedures.
Requirements:
  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • FASA/BASA certification preferred or ability to obtain within 90 days.
  • NICET certifications preferred.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of Fire Alarm System experience.
  • Computer programming skills, with Notifier preferred.
  • Strong understanding of fire alarm design, including high-rise design, smoke control applications, and system product knowledge.
  • Ability to climb ladders and scaffolds.
  • Valid state driver's license.
  • Knowledge of Simplex systems desired.
Work Environment:

The Fire Alarm Technician will work in a variety of environments, including offices, factories, and construction sites. The ideal candidate will be able to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing priorities.

Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to sit, stoop, kneel, or crouch for extended durations.
  • Ability to lift and move equipment weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to work in noisy environments with temperatures higher or lower than standard office conditions.
Equipment and Machines:
  • General office equipment, including PCs/laptops, telephones, copiers, servers, switches, routers, and other computer equipment that supports the network environment.
  • General field equipment, including hand tools, power tools, ladders, aerial/motorized lifts, and test equipment.
Travel:

The Fire Alarm Technician may be required to travel to various locations, including client sites and training facilities.

Other Essential Functions:
  • Employment is contingent upon obtaining and maintaining required certifications or licenses through the duration of the project or contract.
  • Candidate must exhibit a professional behavior that promotes teamwork, fosters cooperation, and enhances productivity in the workplace.
  • Candidate must have the ability to communicate verbally and in writing to work effectively with various external customers, including government, military, and contractor personnel at all levels.
