Job Summary

The Intermediate Care/Progressive Care Registered Nurse coordinates and delivers high-quality, patient-centered care. In collaboration with medical providers, the RN provides pre-operative and post-operative nursing care. The RN serves as an advocate for patients to support an unparalleled patient experience.

Responsibilities

  • Assess, plan, and evaluate patient care needs and provide age and culturally appropriate care while carrying out physician orders.
  • Administer prescribed medications, change dressings, clean wounds, monitor vital signs, and instruct and educate patients and families.
  • Provide respiratory and ventilator management and monitoring for patients.
  • Monitor, record, and communicate patient conditions using the Meditech computerized documentation system.
  • Participate in discharge planning needs and support new staff through mentoring and orientation.

Requirements

  • Current Indiana RN licensure or active Compact State RN license.
  • Graduate from an accredited school of professional registered nursing, Associates Degree required.
  • Current certification as a BLS Healthcare Provider.
  • ACLS, and NIHSS certification obtained within 6 months of hire date. Certifications to be maintained throughout employment.
  • TCAT course completion within a year of employment.
  • Customer service abilities including effective listening skills.
  • Critical thinking skills, crucial discernment, and the ability to work in a dynamic environment.
  • Excellent collaboration between all staff/units and shifts.
