Job Description:

Position: Financial Analyst

Location: Finance Department

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled Financial Analyst to join our team at the City of Brockton, MA. The successful candidate will be responsible for reviewing collective bargaining agreements, projecting costs of proposals and implementation, and maintaining a uniform system for financial planning and operations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Reviews collective bargaining agreements and projects costs of proposals and implementation.
  • Assists in maintaining uniform system for financial planning and operations.
  • Performs risk analysis and reviews potential liabilities regarding property, casualty, and liability coverage.
  • Develops strategies to reduce risk exposure.
  • Monitors expenditures of funds.
  • Performs financial analysis for special projects.
  • Generates extensive financial reports.
  • Participates in collective bargaining process.
  • Participates in all aspects of annual budget cycle.

Requirements:

Preferred Education and Experience:

Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, public administration, or business administration preferred, supplemented with 5 years of experience in governmental finance, preferably at the local level; or any equivalent combination of education, training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the essential functions of the job.

Work Environment:

The work environment is typical of a municipal office subject to frequent interruptions. Noise or physical surroundings may be distracting, but working conditions are generally not unpleasant.
