About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Operating Room Registered Nurse (RN) to join our team as a travel nurse in Springfield, Oregon. This is an exciting opportunity for a dedicated and experienced RN to work in a fast-paced environment and provide top-notch care to patients undergoing surgical procedures.

About the Job

As an Operating Room Travel Nurse, you will be responsible for assisting physicians and medical staff in caring for surgical patients. You will also provide pre- and post-surgery care and education to patients, ensuring they receive the best possible care before, during, and after their procedures.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide basic bedside care to patients undergoing surgery.
  • Prepare, administer, and record prescribed medication, reporting any adverse reactions to treatment.
  • Serve as the communication liaison between patients' family members and members of the operating team.
  • Ensure that the correct procedure(s) is being performed on the correct patient.
  • Initiate patient education plan as prescribed by physician; teach patients and families how to manage medication and home care needs.

In addition to these responsibilities, Circulating OR Nurses may also perform tasks such as:

  • Responding to comfort and safety needs of patient.
  • Accurate care and handling of specimens.
  • Monitoring equipment used during surgery.
  • Inventory of surgical items pre- and post-procedure.

Scrub OR Nurses may also perform tasks such as:

  • Selection and handling of surgical instruments and supplies during procedures.
  • Inventory of surgical items pre- and post-procedure.

RN First Assistants may also perform tasks such as:

  • Assist physicians by delivering direct surgical care.
  • Help control bleeding.
  • Suture patients following surgery.
About Working Conditions

This role requires the ability to stand and walk for long periods of time, as well as bend, lean, and stoop without difficulty. The RN should be able to easily lift 20 pounds and may face hazards from exposure to certain chemicals or infectious diseases in the operating room environment.

Requirements

To be considered for this position, you must have a current BLS certification and at least 2 years of experience as a circulating nurse, scrub nurse, or RN first assistant in a hospital setting. Additional certifications may be required before beginning an assignment.

Salary and Benefits

The estimated salary for this position is $85,000 - $105,000 per year, depending on experience and location. Our company offers a comprehensive benefits package, including health insurance, retirement savings, and paid time off.
