As a Senior Software Development Professional, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining full-stack software applications and services to support Natera Operations information processing for genetic lab tests. You will work with operational teams to optimize their workflows and software and build the next generation of Natera ops tools, using a combination of tools, including the LabVantage platform.

Responsibilities:
  • Collaborate with stakeholders and users to define requirements for reliable and extensible operations-friendly applications.
  • Translate requirements into high-quality, Java-based operations applications that meet business needs.
  • Work closely with an engineering team to make key design and technical implementation decisions.
  • Develop a holistic view of processes and systems involved in taking patient samples from order to result in a multi-product clinical laboratory.
  • Analyze LIMS platform features and propose solutions that balance trade-offs and maximize platform usage.
  • Apply off-the-shelf or existing functionality whenever possible to focus development resources on unmet needs.
  • Integrate other enterprise systems and services to create seamless business processes.
  • Improve development process and procedure, promoting best practices across the organization.
  • Develop and maintain automated tests to ensure application quality and reliability.
  • Provide second-tier production support to ensure smooth operation of critical systems.

To succeed in this role, you will need strong object-oriented programming skills, preferably in Java, as well as experience with web services (REST, etc.), XML/JSON, and relational databases (Oracle or others). Experience with Kafka, GitLab, and Kubernetes is also highly desirable. Additionally, you should have excellent teamwork and communication skills, a solid analytical background, and a commitment to diversity in engineering.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, comparable program, or equivalent.
  • At least 5 years of overall software development experience, preferably building complex data or process management applications in production.
  • Experience with object-oriented programming in Java, preferably using open-source frameworks like Spring Frameworks and Hibernate.
  • Knowledge of web services (REST, etc.), XML/JSON, and relational databases (Oracle or others).
  • Experience with Kafka, GitLab, and Kubernetes.
  • Demonstrated teamwork skills.
  • Solid analytical background.
  • Excellent communication.
  • Commitment to diversity in engineering.

Salary: $109,200 - $136,500 USD per year, based on qualifications and location.
