Job Summary

Cleveland Area Hospital Inc is seeking a highly skilled Clinical Laboratory Technologist to join our team. As a key member of our laboratory team, you will be responsible for performing routine tests in the medical laboratory to provide data for use in diagnosis and treatment of disease.

Key Responsibilities
  • Collects, processes, and handles blood and/or other biological specimens according to established policies and procedures.
  • Follows the laboratory's policies and procedures for testing analyses, reporting, and maintain records of patient test results.
  • Reports test results following protocols alerting providers and/or nurses about abnormal and/or critical results.
  • Performs technical laboratory functions including chemistry, hematology, urinalysis, microbiology, and immunology.
  • Prepares samples for pre-transfusion testing; issues and inspects components for transfusion purposes.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Previous medical laboratory experience preferred.
  • Associate degree and MLT(ASCP) or AMT certification required.
Work Environment

The Clinical Laboratory Technologist will work in a fast-paced environment with occasional high pressure or emergent situations. The position requires frequent exposure to bodily fluids and possible exposure to infections specimens, communicable diseases, toxic substances, and other conditions common to a laboratory and medical environment.

Physical Demands
  • Frequent standing, walking, grasping, carrying, and speaking.
  • Occasional sitting, reaching, bending, and stooping.
  • Lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling up to 50 pounds, with assistance if needed.
