Position Overview
Doctorate in Sports Management required.
This role involves teaching responsibilities totaling 27 hours annually, which may encompass courses such as Sport Facility Design & Management, Sport Marketing, Sport Finance, and Sport Policy, including both online and traditional instruction for master's and undergraduate programs. The faculty member will collaborate with existing Human Performance faculty and report directly to the Chair of Human Performance. Coordination of Sport Management courses will be overseen by the lead professor, with guidance from the Chair. The selected candidate will be expected to advise on course enhancements based on assessment outcomes. Additional duties may be assigned by the Chair of Human Performance. This is a tenure-track opportunity.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop and deliver engaging lectures, demonstrations, assignments, and enrichment activities to effectively convey course material.

• Instruct courses across various specialties within the discipline.

• Maintain regular office hours for student advising.

• Engage in departmental and divisional initiatives aimed at recruitment and retention.

• Participate in committee assignments, sponsor student activities, and contribute to campus life.

• Uphold the institution's Christian mission by attending chapel services, meetings, commencement events, and Faculty Forum gatherings.

• Serve as a Christian role model for students.

• Exhibit a strong commitment to knowledge pursuit and share insights with students and colleagues.

• Promote the discipline both on campus and in the community to attract students to the field.

• Maintain connections with alumni and the broader community.

• Attend academic unit meetings and collaborate with fellow faculty members.

• Engage with professional organizations and peers in the discipline across all educational levels.

• Assist in recruiting new faculty members within the academic unit.

• Collaborate with the Dean to prepare class schedules and materials for the University Bulletin Catalog.

• Familiarize with library resources and identify areas for improvement based on budget considerations.

• Aid in the development of syllabi for courses within the discipline.

• Support the preparation of requests for foundation grants.

• Monitor and evaluate student progress, providing necessary referrals to academic and personal support services.

• Demonstrate excellence in teaching methodologies.

• Act as an academic advisor to students.

Qualifications:
  • PhD in Sport Management or a related field is mandatory. ABD candidates may be considered.
  • Preferred experience in teaching college-level courses in various modalities, including face-to-face, hybrid, and online.
  • Strong communication skills and prior experience in research and assessment are preferred.
