Electrical Systems Specialist

As an Electrical Systems Specialist, you'll play a vital role in our mission by supporting the assembly of energy cube trays, performing initial tray level testing, and ensuring each assembled tray is properly functioning. Your expertise will also be utilized in the inspection of battery systems, installation of battery management systems, and troubleshooting of mechanical and electronic issues.

  • Inspect energy blocks upon receipt to identify any potential issues.
  • Install Battery Management System (BMS) and string boards.
  • Perform initial testing as outlined by the Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) protocol.
  • Utilize hand and power tools safely and correctly to assemble sub-assemblies and products.
  • Read and understand technical drawings, mechanical blueprints, and bills of materials.
  • Inspect subassemblies and/or assemblies for defects using specialized test equipment, measurement devices, and visual checks.
  • Identify and correct defects appropriately.
  • Verify the use of correct materials through inspection and parts lists.
  • Ensure the FAT is completed accurately and thoroughly.
  • Troubleshoot issues both electronically and mechanically.
  • Act as the primary point of contact on shift for updates on progress to department managers/supervisors.
  • Energize and discharge energy blocks at 1500 volts.
  • Monitor data recorders, collect and analyze data, and adjust test parameters as needed.

  • Excellent organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple projects.
  • Ability to perform any task within the department.
  • Capacity to train and coach less senior employees.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to effectively relay information to necessary parties.
  • Mechanical aptitude, demonstrated by the proper use of hand and power tools.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel and Word.
  • Ability to read and understand technical drawings, mechanical blueprints, and bills of materials.
  • Capacity to use hand and power tools and measurement devices safely and correctly.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds on a regular basis.
  • Capacity to inspect sub-assemblies and assemblies.
  • Ability to judge the quality of sub-assemblies and assemblies produced compared to established standards, drawings, and instructions.
  • Extensive ability to troubleshoot mechanical and electronic issues.

Education and Experience:

  • Electrical Technician Associate: No experience required, associate's degree in electrical engineering required, demonstrated mechanical ability of proper use of hand and power tools.
  • Electrical Technician Level I: 2+ years of electrical experience, associate's degree in electrical engineering required, demonstrated mechanical ability of proper use of hand and power tools.
  • Electrical Technician Level II: 5+ years of electrical experience, high voltage experience required, industrial/manufacturing electrical experience required, journeyman electrician preferred, associate's degree in electrical engineering required, demonstrated mechanical ability of proper use of hand and power tools.
