Job Summary:We are looking for a dedicated and compassionate individual to provide high-quality patient care in our outpatient dialysis setting. As an Outpatient Dialysis Technician, you will be responsible for ensuring the safety and well-being of our patients, while also maintaining the highest standards of equipment and facility maintenance.
Responsibilities:- Provide ongoing surveillance of dialysis machines, water systems, and unit supplies.
- Participate in patient care under the direction of the Registered Nurse (R.N.).
- Assess patient condition prior to initiation and during dialysis, performing 30-minute checks and documenting any changes.
- Interact with the healthcare team to support and reinforce patient/family teaching plans.
- Assist in planning department maintenance and share responsibility for ensuring adequate supplies.
- Perform technical duties related to opening and closing of the unit and reuse procedures.
- Practice cost-efficient use of supplies and linen, following established charge procedures for patient charge capture.
- Identify potential problems, plan preventative intervention, and report potential problems with equipment to the Dialysis Technician 2.
- Assess water system and dialysis machine readiness, performing technical duties under the direction of the Dialysis Technician 2 and Manager.
- Respond to patient needs or communicate to the appropriate member of the healthcare team.
- High School Diploma, High School Equivalency (HSE), or Completion of a CHS Approved Individualized Education Plan (IEP) Certificate required.
- Two years of college with coursework in science, medical electronics, or health science preferred.
- One year of medical experience, CNA, EMT, Phlebotomy, or equivalent required.
- CAHT - State of California Certified Hemodialysis Technician (CHT) required.
- BLS - Current Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers by American Heart Association (AHA) required.
- CCHT - Certified Clinical Hemodialysis Technician preferred.
- Time and a half after 8 hours + weekend and night differential (call pay for procedural areas).
- Free Continuing Education and certification, including BLS, ACLS, and PALS.
