Position Overview: Therapeutic Recreation Specialist
  • Location: Correctional Facility in Coalinga, California
  • Compensation: $61 to $67 Per Hour + Quarterly Bonus
  • Employment Type: Full-Time Contract (6 to 9 months, with potential for extension)
Qualifications: Therapeutic Recreation Specialist
  • Minimum of twelve (12) months of direct patient care experience within the last three (3) years in a public or private healthcare setting. Clinical competencies must be up-to-date.
  • Valid identification (Driver's License or Passport) is required.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from an accredited organization.
  • Possession of a NATIONAL or California Recreational Therapist Certificate.

Key Responsibilities: Therapeutic Recreation Specialist
  • Report any changes in patient conditions to the Director of Recreational Therapy and the interdisciplinary treatment team.
  • Provide valuable insights to the interdisciplinary team regarding patient responses to therapy and treatment interventions.
  • Conduct assessments focused on psychosocial, leisure, and recreation skills development.
  • Ensure timely and accurate documentation of therapeutic interventions in accordance with the patient's care plan.
  • Instruct patients in coping strategies and stress management techniques, promoting a balanced leisure lifestyle.
  • Apply advanced knowledge of counseling and therapeutic methods to determine appropriate services for patients with psychiatric, traumatic, or substance-related issues.
  • Exhibit understanding of group dynamics and facilitate group therapy sessions effectively.
